I was delighted to be elected to the position of Parent Governor in 2012, and reelected to my second term of office. I am Father to two children who both attended Russell Scott Primary School. They both attended nursery and reception at Russell Scott Primary School.

After graduating from University in 2000, I worked towards becoming a Chartered Surveyor and qualified in October 2001. Throughout my working life, I have been employed in the commercial property market in the north west and I currently head up the Industrial & Logistics agency team in the Manchester office of a large, multi-national property practice.

I have a committed attitude to education and schooling and firmly believe that the early years of a child’s education are crucial in shaping their future success and attitude to learning. I also believe that alongside the importance of teaching the core skills of literacy and numeracy, school is also a vital part of teaching a child the core values of being part of a society and helping to shape them for their future role in the world and also providing a safe, secure and happy place to learn – this includes working in tandem with the home, by encouraging support from the family unit.

I have been a Governor at Russell Scott for 12 years. I was a pupil at Russell Scott as were my own children as well as my mum and other family members and so being at Russell Scott is a bit like ‘belonging’ to Russell Scott! I initially trained as a nurse before training as a Nursery Nurse working in Social Services. I then came to Russell Scott in 1998 to ‘help out’ and haven’t left since! I currently work as a Teaching Assistant supporting teachers, children and their families and, as well as gaining a BA (Hons) in Education, I have also trained and worked extensively to support children with behavioural needs and difficulties as well as being instrumental in helping to drive forward our strong family and community links through Mums and Tots, After School Club, Playgroups and Parent Classes. As a Governor, I want to help everyone feel like they belong to the family of Russell Scott and for all pupils to reach their full potential.

In my spare time, I am hugely involved in charity and community work in my role as Charity Champion and PR Ambassador at Sainsbury’s, where some pupils at Russell Scott have already enjoyed visits to store, working the checkouts, sampling foods and working the warehouse doors to give them a flavour of future careers and jobs!

The ‘best days of my life’ started at Russell Scott and I am pleased to continue to be a part of the school and it’s community.

I am a parent governor. I have two daughters at Russell Scott. My main motivation for becoming a governor is to actively support the school to ensure that it’s as effective as possible at delivering the best education. I am a strong believer in parents having an input and influencing how the school is run. Please feel free to chat to me in the playground, I will look forward to meeting you.

I have been a co-opted governor for a number of years. Prior to this I was a parent governor as all three of my children attended Russell Scott. After leaving school I trained and worked as a diagnostic radiographer/ultrasonographer for seventeen years at a number of Manchester Hospitals. This experience enabled me to develop communication and people skills which are now invaluable in my current role.

I originally became involved with Russell Scott as a volunteer when my eldest daughter was in reception and I became a governor soon afterwards. In 2001 I joined the staff as a teaching assistant and then trained as a Learning Mentor.

My three children loved the school and their teachers. As well as academic achievements they took a very active part in other aspects of school life including sporting activities such as rugby, football and cricket. A highlight for two of them was representing Russell Scott in cricket at Old Trafford. Russell Scott brought out the very best in my children and ensured that they developed into confident caring well balanced adults.

As a governor, I feel committed to ensuring that every child at the school develops to their full potential and enjoys every moment of their school life and will look back at their time at Russel Scott as a wonderful experience. My main areas of involvement currently are curriculum standards, safeguarding and pupil premium. I have also been involved in recruitment of potential new staff. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 21 years as a governor and look forward to continue to contribute to the school and the wider community.

I have taught at Russell Scott for over 20 years and am very proud to be part of the school community as both Deputy Headteacher and Governor. I am married to Dave and have three children who keep me very busy out of school!

I feel privileged to be able to work with such fabulous staff and Governors in making a positive difference to the lives of the children at Russell Scott. I believe that by being part of the Governing Body I am able to draw on the wealth of experience that each member of our school community brings, in order to continue to build upon our successes.

My name is Anne Chesters. Some parents may remember me, as I taught at Russell Scott for seventeen years, as class teacher and then Deputy Headteacher for ten years. I left in 2008 to take up the position of Headteacher at another local primary school.

Having now retired, I am pleased to return to Russell Scott as a governor, bringing my many years of experience and skills to the role. I want to play a part in maintaining the high standards in all aspects of school life that are celebrated by the school: academic and sporting achievements, creative talent, which is nurtured through art, music and dance and all aspects of technology, preparing children for life in the 21st century, whilst providing a caring, supportive environment in which pupils can fully achieve their potential.
